Look One: Silk & Satin
Look One
The main feature of this look is the red silk vintage skirt (sue court). This skirt is from the 1970’s but is a similar style to the recent skirts seen in the AW13 Dior shows. The skirt was paired with a simple white top (H&M), with lace style detailing in the cotton. The cream colour keeps the rest of the outfit simple, leaving the focus on the skirt. The trick is to keep the accessories simple, yet quirky: the faded purple of the sunglasses complements the deep hue of the shoes, while the thick round frames and side detailing emulates vintage style. The shoes (Schuh) add a touch of glamour to the outfit with simple satin straps and the bow detail at the back, yet the low gold heal keeps it modern and walk-able. Lastly, the red clutch (Asos) with gold detail echo’s the shoes; the letter style keeps it simple and sharp. Just add a simple red lip and you are good to go.
Look Two: Glamour Noir
Look Two
The main feature of this look is the black vintage dress (Next). The button detail down the back means this outfit doesn’t need too much fuss. This dress is paired with dark purple tights (M&S) which compliment the purple undertones in the glittery shoes (Schuh), these wedge heals are easy to walk in, whilst still make a statement. The classic red lip adds some colour to this otherwise quite dark outfit, allowing for the hat (Unknown Designer) to complement the dress whilst lightening up the look. I then added a selection of vintage pearls (Unknown Designer) in order to give the look a vintage feel. This outfit could be dressed down a bit more by replacing the wedges with flats and loosing the hat.
Look Three: Chick Checks
Look Three
The main feature of this look is the red and black check vintage cape coat (Designer Unknown). This cape can be easily worn as a dress, so is the perfect transition piece for Spring / Summer style. Just add a simple belt, in this case black platted skinny (H&M) to define the waist and give your arms more freedom. I kept the accessories simple to let the cape do the talking, pairing with opaque black tights (M&S) and black suede wedge ankle boots (Geox). I kept the rest of the accessories black so as not to detract from the checks, black ring and sequined bag (both Designer Unknown) and finally added dark tortoise shell print glasses (RayBan).
