The award winning light pods from Michael Grubb Studios have once again transformed Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens into an immersive spectacle of light this Christmas.
The Gardens of Light are open 10am to 10pm from the 28th November 2014 up until the 6th January 2015.
The pods comprise of ten different light shows all contained in traditional white beach hut frames. The pods take on a multisensory approach incorporating sound, touch and sight into their interactive experience. In addition to this the light festival also features an ice skating rink complete with a Café bar and giant lava lamp display, as well as a twinkling Grotto for Santa.
Jan Poultner, 56, is from Poole and visited both this year and last year in 2013 when it launched. She intends on returning every year she can. She said, “I love the festive atmosphere the lights bring to Bournemouth, it is truly unique”.
Charlotte Bartlett, 20, is from Bournemouth and has just started her second year at the Bournemouth Arts University. She found the light experience to be “different from anything she had ever seen before”.
So far the Gardens of Light has won two awards: a Lighting Design award for best special event and a Design Week award for Best exhibition.
