Bournemouth and Poole’s Rough sleeper team estimate they have helped over 50 people in the run up to Christmas.
A spokesmans for the team told BUzz that in the last quarter upto September, they had helped 46 people on average who were housed and helped a further 15, who have been reconnected to places with a local connection.
The organisation further reinforced the issue of homelessness to be a nationwide problem increasing by 55% nationally.
Specifically to Bournemouth, there were 31 in total reported street counts and estimates of rough sleeping, in Autumn 2014.
With this many people on the streets of Bournemouth it is key that charities like the Rough Sleepers team go out and help.
The Rough sleepers team, like many charities, go out and find solutions to get people off of the streets and into accommodation. They specifically go out early verify, access and then refer to local connections and housing.
The charity are keen to make a change and are helping in the run up to christmas, to get the homeless off of the streets and into the warmth, with the cold winter months on the approach.
Passion for the Rough sleepers team comes from the idea of giving everyone a second, third and forth chance.
A spokesman for the team said
With Storm Desmond still on the approach its inspiring to see such charities helping to make the lives of the homeless better.
