Boxing is an interesting sport, although sometimes hard to understand. Some people generalise it as pure violence, how true is this? We asked Adam some frequently asked questions about the game and here are his responses.
Is the sport just violence?
No. Boxing is a game that uses technique and tactic. We don’t just play the game to have a fight, it is a tactical game which has to be thoroughly thought through. Its about communicating with your opponent,
Do you ever feel hate or anger towards your opponent?
Not at all, despite the fact that we are having a fight we both know we mean no harm by it. Boxing isn’t about hurting people, thats not what winning the fight is about.
Do you get scared prior to fighting?
Scared about loosing, thats all. The game itself doesn’t scare me, I can take a hit, we learn to.
What is the aim of the game?
Like in football the aim of the game is to get the ball into the goal, our aim is to throw as many hits at our opponent as we can get in.
What is the difference between a boxing match and a normal fight?
They are two completely different things. People fight each other out of hate and anger, that is not the way that boxing works. Boxing is a controlled sport, we wont allow it to get out of hand. The moment somebody is on the floor thats it, you stop.
