Poole Town manager Tom Killick believes the Dolphins will get promoted this season, after their 1-0 win over title challengers Leamington moves them eight-points clear at the top of the Southern League Premier.
After the bitterly disappointing end to last season’s campaign, many Poole fans were worried how the ‘playoff hangover’ would impact them this season.
However, the Dolphins season is going swimmingly this time around, and they are gradually pulling away from their rivals at the top of the Southern Premier.
Poole’s long term manager, Tom Killick, hasn’t forgotten about what happened last season but is convinced the players are more determined to win the league this time.
Last year was a difficult time for us, but it is in the past and the players are doing really well at the moment”.
“There is only one objective [to win the league] and that’s what we’ve have got to look for. We don’t want to go through the whole season, put all the effort in and not achieve our objective.”
When asked if he believes if Poole have enough to get promoted, Killick responded: “Yes, yes, yes”, which will no doubt fill the supporters with optimism going into the second half of the season.
Nonetheless, many Poole Town fans will still be wary, as they also found themselves top of the Southern League Premier before the final game of last season.
The Dolphins only needed a draw at home to 2nd place Corby Town to win the league, but the fans were left heartbroken as they lost 3-2. which denied them automatic promotion. They subsequently lost 1-0 in the play semi final to St Neots Town.
