16 people participated in a survey to answer questions over their interest in bringing back a permanent ice skating rink in Bournemouth.
After being asked if they thought it would be a good idea to build a permanent ice skating rink in Bournemouth, 75% of the people questioned said “yes” but 68.75 5 % said that they would only use the facility on rare occasions which could be seen as troublesome when thinking of installing a permanent ice skating rink.
For young people these days money is a big factor when thinking of activities to do or places to go in their free time but the majority of people who did this survey said that they would be willing to pay between 5 and £10 to access the rink for an hour session.
When asked if they would be interested in learning a new skill if the option to have lessons was to be put in place, 9 out of the 16 people questioned said yes, 5 said maybe and only 2 said no.
Learning to play ice hockey and figure skating are the main skills that seem to interest the public in Bournemouth.
With big shows on television such as ‘Dancing on Ice’, Bournemouth could really benefit from a permanent and Olympic sized ice skating rink giving the town the opportunity to host such major events. Over 50% of the public said that they would be interested in going to watch shows on ice if they were brought to Bournemouth.
This survey shows that a permanent ice skating rink could be a massive benefit to Bournemouth town, especially for young people wanting to learn new skills and try new sports.
