[two-thirds-first]We spoke to four people of different ages and generations to see how much they knew about sexual consent. We asked them two different questions, both based around topics that are discussed in the sexual consent classes taking place in secondary schools. None of the participants had taken any of the classes before but were shocked by some of the answers.
Some of the answers in this video indicate that the lessons would have been helpful to some of the participants. The classes potentially could have given them a clearer understanding around the law about consent and how it can be withdrawn at any time.
The participants were also asked to say the legal age of consent, three out of the four participants answered correctly with sixteen. However the youngest participant, who was sixteen years old, thought the legal age was eighteen. All of the participants were shocked to learn that if two people are of a similar age from the age of thirteen and have consensual sex, they are unlikely to be prosecuted.
