Poole piper to travel seven continents in 50 days

A nurse practitioner from Poole has begun her 50 day challenge today to raise £50,000 by playing her bagpipes on every continent.

Irene Robinson started in New York City’s, Radio City Music Hall, and will travel across the globe, visiting Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg and even Antartica, while finishing on HMS Belfast in London on the 27 February.

See the destinations Irene will be travelling on her world tour.

Irene, who funded the trip herself, hopes to raise the money for the Royal Navy, Royal Marines Charity and Julia’s House.

Julia’s House is the only children’s hospice charity in Dorset that helps children with life-threatening illnesses.

Jaqui Greenhaf, Community Fundraising Manager for Julia’s House shares her thoughts on how the money will help the children’s hospice.
