Two men have been arrested – one on suspicion of attempted murder – after a stabbing in Poole Park at the weekend.
A 59 year-old man was walking through the park between 6:15pm and 7pm on Saturday 23 January near the crazy golf area.
He was stabbed in the stomach and has undergone surgery, but is now recovering at home.
Nothing was taken from the victim and the alleged offender ran toward the war memorial. The suspect and victim were not known to each other.
Officers are searching the area to find the weapon used, but so far nothing has been recovered. Dorset Police have advised that if anyone finds a knife or sharp object in the park or surrounding area to please not touch it and contact them immediately.
On Tuesday 26 January, a 37-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. Yesterday another Poole man, aged 37, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Both of the men are helping the officers with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I am renewing our appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
“We would like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident and we have a team of dedicated officers investigating the reported offence. Anyone with information should contact me on 101.”
