The UK is Crumbling!
In the UK as a whole 9,000 commercial properties and 5,000 hectares of agricultural land are currently at risk of the effects of coastal erosion culminating in potential costs of £7.7 billion according to DEFRA.
This interactive map allows you to view a shortlisted top five locations most threatened by the effects of coastal erosion in the UK, both historically and indeed contemporarily, using some key facts and figures from the trusted British Geological Survey (BGS).
We look briefly at the actions being taken by the government and local councils to protect effected land.
Bournemouth and it’s surrounding areas – as is presented in the interactive map above – are at high risk, particularly damaging economically.
