Inspired by the popular show Strictly Come Dancing, eight couples competed in front of four guest judges, all from prestigious dance backgrounds, in the hopes of securing first place.
Treating the audience to a variety of dance styles, it was Jemma and Michael’s Charleston that wowed the audience and the judges, after receiving the highest score of the evening.
Katie Slade, Events Fundraiser, at Weldmar said the event was “absolutely amazing.” Alongside the raffle and ticket sales, each of the 16 competitors were set the task of raising at least £400.” But obviously they raised a significant amount more than that.
This is the third year that the charity has hosted this event, they raised £13,000 in the first year, £23,000 last year and with £26,000 being raised this year, it has proved to be one of their most successful fundraising events to date. Katie said:
It is incredibly popular as the dancers are very well supported by friends and family and because Strictly is such a popular TV show.”
