Community centre and theatre in Ferndown is to be reopened by the district council following its orginal closing down last Friday.
The Barrington Centre suddenly shut its doors amid financial difficulties, leaving residents and the community without local facilities.
East Dorset District Council, who own the building, is preparing to take over from the Ferndown Community Association Charity.
The community will lose out in the short term as the council is unable to begin running the centre until the charity has formally ended its lease. As soon as the old lease is up, the building will reopen to the public under the council.
Both the town council and the police are expected to be able to continue using the building during the transfer period, however current staff have been made redundant and the public will be excluded until it officially reopens.
