A family celebration to mark the start of the Chinese New Year will be held tonight at 7:30pm.
The show will be held at the Bournemouth Life Centre in Winton, Bournemouth and you can join in the Chinese New Year festivities for £7 a ticket.
Organised by Dorset Chinese Arts society, the event plans to generate funding for the Bournemouth YMCA whilst promoting Chinese culture in Dorset.
The celebration features a variety of different family friendly events, including an orchestra travelling from China and the highlight of the evening; a traditional lion dance.
Chinese New Year is celebrated to applaud a year of hard work and to wish luck on a prosperous coming year.
Bian Ooi, one of the organisers for the event, said: “Chinese New Year is like our version of Christmas, its very important”.
She continues: “We are all mothers now living in Bournemouth and want to do something to give back to our community and raise money for that”
The event tonight will aim to highlight different traditions and activities and uniting the local community.
A raffle will also be held and all profits will go to the Bournemouth YMCA.
