£4million worth of grants has been awarded to galleries and museums across Dorset to improve displays and to increase tourist numbers.
One of the lucky institutions is Bournemouth’s Russell Cotes Museum who received £132,000 towards their Skylight project.
The project follows the decay of their windows which does not adhere to environmental compliance. They will also be able to improve other issues, and to fulfil the original architecture design.
The large grant will allow the museum to borrow high value paintings and sculptures from larger museums to increase its quality and position in the creative sector.
This marks the first step of building a deeper, artistic flare within the business sector, suggesting that creativity can be expanded throughout many sectors of the town.
The new workspace will be exclusive for member companies and freelancers which will help create new business opportunities.
