Imagine a job where you risk your life daily, serving communities with courage and devotion. Dodging falling ceilings, and toxic smoke, saving men, women and children from burning buildings.
However, among these brave individuals, only 5% of firefighters in England are female.
In a career dominated by men, Femmes Du Feu investigates the underrepresentation of women in the fire service ahead of the recent appointment of the first female commissioner, Dany Cotton.
Dany is now the highest ranking female firefighter in Europe, and the first woman in history to ever lead the London Fire Brigade. What does the future hold for the male dominated world that is firefighting now that a woman is in charge?
The supporting production blog can be read here filled with images, videos and audio taken throughout the whole project. Including an extra audio clip with Dany Cotton, which wasn’t featured in the main documentary.
