Bournemouth’s LGBT Charity – Over the Rainbow is expected to close if they do not raise £27,000
The charity, Over the Rainbow, which was launched 15 years ago, provides support and advice to those within the local LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community, and is one of the few centres that is funded and staffed by the NHS.
Over The Rainbow aims to help with sexually transmitted infections, advocacy and self-esteem encouragement. The charity also works with local drug and alcohol agencies and can make referrals to specialists if needed.
Cuts to funding have meant that the service can no longer continue its service on its premises and the charity are seeking £27,000 to cover the rent for this year.
The charity is currently working with Dorset County Hospital Charity to protect the service and have asked members of the public to provide any donations to help to save the charity.
