Located on Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth, Pause offers customers the chance to grab a drink and something to eat in the company of some furry friends.
Owner, Jaya Da Costa said the cafe hopes to provide a relaxing experience for visitors: “I want to make people feel happy and that happiness comes from spending time with animals. I had that feeling myself when looking after my rescue cat and I wanted to share that with others.”
In order to visit the cafe tables must be booked online to prevent too many customers being in the venue at one time. Bookings are available in a minimum of one-hour slots, at a cost of £5 per hour to pay for ‘cat care’ charges.
The cafe currently homes seven rescue cats and hopes to eventually provide care for 12 kitty’s. For now, Da Costa is allowing her new feline companions to get used to their new environment and to each other.
The Pause owner is thankful to the public for supporting her dream of opening the kitty-haven. She said: “The moment when I decided I wanted to do it was 4th April 2016 so it’s taken all that time to get off the ground, fundraise and get open. Their home wouldn’t have been possible without the overwhelming support of the public so we are very thankful.”
