Dorset Chinese Arts Society celebrated the Chinese New Year at the Bournemouth Life Centre.
The society put on a family show featuring, international musicians, choirs, and a traditional dragon for over 600 people in Winton.
The Mayor of Bournemouth, Edward Coope, welcomed everyone to the evening, which was filled with traditional dance, chamber choir, orchestra and singing.
Over 60 delegates from china visited the event from Shenzhen Nanshan Educational Group in China which is headed by Ms. Zhang Zin. The visiting delegation from China included The Lark Choir with 30 children from year 5 and 6, The Dingtal choir with 20 children from year 4 and 5, and a full brass and woodwind ensemble.
Bian Ooi, one of the organisers for the event, said: “Chinese New Year is like our version of Christmas, its very important”.
She added: “We are all mothers now living in Bournemouth and want to do something to give back to our community and raise money for that”
Tickets for the Chinese New Year festivities are £7 a ticket. Profits from the event went to the Bournemouth YMCA.
