The Bournemouth Symphony orchestra have won the ‘Dementia Friendly organisation of the year award’ for small and medium businesses at the Dementia Friendly awards 2017.
The awards, that are being held at County Hall in London until 4:30pm today, are organised by the Alzheimers society and sponsored by British Gas. The Orchestra were nominated alongside Oasis Academy in Kent and the Bracknell Film Society, but beat both to the award.
Lesley Sharp, best know for her role as Jean in the film ‘The Full Monty’, presented the award to the group who are “Utterly delighted” to win.

The judging panel, which was made up of people affected by dementia from the 3 Nations Working Group and their headline sponsor British Gas, chose the finalists for each award.
