Bournemouth council have proposed a Public Spaces Protection Order for the town centre.
The order will prevent buskers and skateboarders conducting ‘persistent and disruptive’ behaviour according to their website information.
For the order to go through, the council need to prove that ‘the behaviours contained in the order affect the quality of life for local communities’. The order has been proposed due to complaints made by business owners, residents and visitors.
Following last week’s story concerning a petition made by local residents against the PSPO, we went to speak to local business owners in town to see what they had to say about the proposed order.
Our reporter Ondrej went and met local business owners in town, who have expressed their feelings about the behaviour that is said to disrupt their day to day running. One businessman described the disturbances as ‘a disgrace’ to the town.
A businesswoman working on one of the christmas market stalls in the town centre also shared her views on the proposed order, and what she thinks needs to be done to rectify the situation.
