Last year’s Christmas market in Bournemouth had people feeling quite disappointed as there weren’t many stalls in comparison to the current Christmas market, which has been complimented for its mixture of stalls.
The Christmas market stalls from 2016 were said to be “scarce and limited” which made some of the locals very disappointed in the amount of effort put into the market.
Bournemouth local, Tom Cooper, had been to the market the year before and said he was “let down by the standard of the market as many of the stalls closed down before the end of the allotted time”.
When asked about this year’s Christmas market in comparison, Mr Cooper commented that he hadn’t held very high expectations but he was “so glad this year was better as there is lots of variety this year”.
“The current Christmas market is so much more festive”
Another visitor, Anna from Southampton, also said she came the previous year and was “upset about how the market had turned out. The only good thing last year was the ice skating and the lovely display of classic cars. The current Christmas market however is so much more festive and people seem friendlier too!”.
The ice skating rink is also an attraction which has claimed the attention of other visitors as well as students from Bournemouth University.
Media and Communications student Becca Heath, mentioned she visited last year for the ice skating and continued to go again this year. “I enjoyed going last year as much as this year, even though the rink this time was bigger so there wasn’t as many collisions on the ice!”
