“Do you think students bring more negatives than positives to Winton East?”
The public of Winton were asked about their opinions on the ‘positives and negatives’ of University students residing in Winton East.
This is what the residents had to say…
Negatives. Because I’m fed up of being woken up 3 or 4 times in the night.
But on the other hand I’ve got students downstairs and next door to me and they’re fine, so its just the minority.”
it can be a bit of both because obviously you’ve got to respect the people around you that have lived here for years before you
At the same time you sometimes have a few neighbours being a bit unfair and saying ‘this isn’t even a student area why are you living here’ but that’s not really our fault.”
Its difficult to say, but they haven’t brought any positives to me. There is no end to trouble with people parking across your driveway.
There are some very bad students, but if they were all good then it would be fine.”
No not at all, we need the students.
We need the students for our economy, we cant just have just have the general public living in and around Winton, we need students, we need a young generation.”
No, I think it’s good to have the students around, I cant see why there’s a negative to it.
I think you need young people around, a lot of them work as well, they aren’t just bumming off of the state and the educations good.
I don’t think it’s the students that cause trouble in Winton, there’s a lot of undesirables that live in Winton and they’re not from out of town, put it that way.”
They can do, there are certain areas that are just students which I don’t thinks good for the private householders.
There are always pros and cons, good lads and lasses so its difficult to comment on this because it happens everywhere.
I don’t think they particularly join in with the community either, they just go to university, go home and party. That’s it.”
