I asked two students on their take on the finance on international students and this is what they had to say.
Nina Nagel, BU student German-Italian
Q: Do you believe UK banks are helping international students with the basic current accounts?
Ans: i don’t know if the banks are helping us, as international students we don’t have access to student bank accounts and therefore have no overdraft or other benefits that come with those specific accounts.
Q: In your experience being an international student how has your financial situation faired?
Ans: I guess it was annoying at first because for my first year accommodation i had to pay from a British account which meant it was one of the first things i had to get sorted, i think they should be more lax and accept international cards/accounts as well
Ans: To be honest i use both my card from home (€) and my British basic account, and in shops it really doesn’t make a difference.
