This Christmas, Westbourne residents have the chance to take part in a Victorian walk through the historic town with Hattie Miles, a retired photographer for the Bournemouth Echo.
Those who take part will learn about the parallels between Westbourne’s expansion and the development of Christmas celebrations.
The walk will explore the history of Christmas traditions, such as crackers, carols, tinsel and turkey, as well as a Christmas-themed reading from the Victorian era.
The first of these walks took place this morning, with the next scheduled to take place on 13th December, starting at 11:30am and finishing around 1pm.
Hattie, the event organiser, said: “Quite a lot of the people who come do live alone, so it is important for them.
It’s communication, and I do enjoy doing it. I’ve found that I have met a lot of nice people doing this.”
A price for a ticket is £5, with no booking needed, with the walk starting at The Vintage Lounge Café in the centre of Westbourne arcade.
