Dorset music artists are rushing to enter the ‘New Blood Competition’ to win a place on stage at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.
The winners will also receive four days studio recording with writer and producer Benny D, who has produced for this year’s headliners The Killers and Depeche Mode.
The Isle of Wight Festival have teamed up with HOT VOX to run the competition which is open to all music artists.
Megan Lawrenson, Senior Promoter at HOT VOX, reveals the competition has been hit by an influx of Dorset based musicians.
All artists must do to enter is submit an original song that best represents them. It is then down to the competition’s panel of judges to select the lucky few that will enter a stage of live rounds to compete for a place in the grand final.
The live rounds will take place in London in front of industry professionals. However, that’s not the only way an act can make it to the grand final.
Megan told Buzz News that an alternative route to the final through an online vote may be a great option for Dorset bands unable to travel to London. She also gave away the venue to be used for this year’s final.
On grand final night at the O2 Academy Islington special guest judges will decide the competition winner.
Currently the HOT VOX panel of judges are deliberating over the Dorset entries which are among a huge number of submissions to this first stage.
Megan leaked some advice on what the judges might be looking for.
