Students who joined BU in September 2015 found out in their second year the Maintenance grant was only valid for the first year, however students who joined the year after, and current first years will enjoy a bursary in every year at University.
The bursary is available to students with a household income of £16,000 or less, and receive £3,500 to support learning and living costs.
SUBU are set to lobby BU to review the Maintenance Bursary for the students who joined in Setember 2015.
Daniel Asayla, SUBU president said: “This issue was brought to my attention recently and SUBU will be working with BU to see what can be done and if possible, have a review for students who have been negatively affected by this”
“This really affected my second year! They never were able to explain why.”
“I got the bursary in my first year only. I was told I wasn’t entitled to any more in second and third year.”
