Children of The Enemy is a short documentary that focuses on the Lebensbørn war children from WW2 and one woman’s discovery of her hidden heritage.
The Lebensbørn initiative was an S.S. organisation with the aim of increasing the population of aryan children. German soldiers were encouraged to reproduce with Norwegian women, the resulting children were highly valued by the german authorities.
It was after the war that they were shunned from society and outcast by their own communities. Left in the care of the state, they suffered mental and physical abuse.
The documentary also follows the journey of Elna Johnsen.
