Sandbanks Ferry remains suspended as local businesses feel the bite

January 18, 2019 //  by Drew Miller Hyndman//  Leave a Comment

Local businesses face another weekend with reduced business as the Sandbanks Ferry remains delayed for another weekend.

Zoe Lamble, manager of the Haven Ferry Cafe, bemoaned the delays “weekends are obviously crucial for us, it’s just yet another weekend without the trade we should have.”

She added that she had heard “nothing” from the ferry company, saying that they were “relying exactly as the general public on getting updates from their Facebook posts.

On an update on their website, The Bournemouth-Swanage Motor Road and Ferry Company said “We are still working on getting the ferry back into service, we hope this will be very soon but at the moment do not have a definite date for this.”

“We have been advised not to publish technical details of the problems we have encountered due to potentially prejudicing claims, but we assure everyone that we are working extremely hard to get her back into service as soon as possible but cannot until it is completely safe to do so.”
