Bournemouth residents rejoice as oil rig removed from Bournemouth coastline

Residents have been sharing their feelings after the removal of the Corallian oil rig from the Jurassic coastline this weekend.  

The Corallian Energy oil rig arrived on the coastline in February and was granted a one month trial to assess oil capabilities in the Colter prospect, which is now thought to have the capability to yield 15 million barrels of oil.

The rig, ENSCO 72, has now been towed out of Poole Bay to its latest home in the North Sea. Plans have not yet been confirmed for its return.
