‘The Green Party is here to stay’

Live report from Paul Tregunna at the BIC…

Chris Rigby, Green party candidate for Christchurch has insisted that his party are not going anywhere, despite Labour and the Conservatives taking on board their core message in their manifestos.

Rigby and his 400-strong volunteer force are hoping for an increase in voter share from the 2017 General Election in all five Dorset wards being counted here at the BIC.

He singled out Bournemouth West and Bournemouth East as key constituencies they were hoping to gain in due to the strong involvement the Green Party has in these areas.

Rigby also suggested that it’s time the voting system in this country was changed, and believed tonight’s exit poll might be the catalyst for Labour to join the list of parties championing Proportional Representation.

Rigby then pointed out that if that were to be the case, it would be ‘everyone but the Tories’ who were keen for change in the way we elect our government.
