Bournemouth’s East Cliff is being monitored after a landslip damaged an ice cream kiosk on Boscombe promenade leaving debris.

The slip occurred after Storm Brendan hit Dorset this week with yellow weather warnings in place.

Debris fell from the cliffs and damaged the kiosk at Gordons Corner in Southbourne. The incident occurred on the night of the 14th January.

Since then the rubble has been cleared away from the public.

The damage to the ice cream kiosk was minimal but it is currently fenced off.

This is not a one-off occurrence – in 2016 a landslip happened on East Cliff damaging a cliff railway line and a toilet block.

A BCP Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of a cliff slip at Gordons Corner which has seen a small amount of cliff material partially move the ice cream kiosk on site.

“Fortunately there was no major damage. A clear-up operation has been organised and the cliff is being monitored for any further slips.”
