This weekend shoppers at the Dolphin Centre in Poole will be able to get some new clothes, all while helping the environment.

The Switch It Clothing Exchange is encouraging local people to swap their pre-loved clothes in exchange for something different.

Founder, Shelley Louise, spoke to BUzz earlier about their past events in Poole: “Even if people don’t know that we’re there, the footfall is great, people come in and have a look and we tell them about us and they’re likely to come back again.”

Shelley said that the clothes are Switch It events are not ranked by quality or value: “I’ve been to swapping events where they do rank the clothes and I think as a one-off it might work but when it’s done regularly it’s too much. Everything is the same price. Last time a brand new Ralph Lauren jumper came in with the tag on, priced as £65 and went out the door for two.”

She added: “[Buying second hand] is definitely becoming more popular, I’ve watched it change over the last couple of years. I think now with the damage that’s being done to the environment people are becoming a lot more aware of their choices so I think second hand is definitely the way to go.”

The SwitchIt Clothing Exchange will be at the Dolphin Centre Eco-hub, 25 January, 10 am – 3 pm.
