The homes will replace the BCP Council housing currently on site which is no longer fit for purpose and requires significant ongoing maintenance.
Cllr Simon Bull, Chairman of the Council Planning Committee, said: “They’re replacing old Council stocks and will be designed to the modern ‘Passivhaus’ standards, which will reduce the carbon footprint of each dwelling.
“This will be good for the people that move in as monthly energy bills will be reduced, so I think they’re a positive contribution to that area.”
Cabinet will be asked to approve the funding of £1.8M for the scheme through the Housing Revenue Account budget. Cllr Simon said: “Building houses is expensive, but these are certainly going to be houses that will be there for the foreseeable future – serving our community and our residents.”
If approved by Cabinet and subject to planning approval the development could start in Spring 2020 with the aim to complete by Spring 2021.
