Going Underground: What would a metro system for Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole look like?

January 23, 2020 //  by subeditor 1//  Leave a Comment

Fantasy Map of a metro for Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch (Credit:https://www.citymetric.com/transport/here-s-fantasy-metro-network-bournemouth-and-poole-4881)

Ever been stuck in the gridlock around Poole and Bournemouth and wished there was a better way to get around?

Shelled out for a taxi to Bournemouth Airport because you thought it would be cheaper than parking?

Cancelled plans to see friends in Poole because the buses back to Bournemouth stop too early?

This fantasy map of what a metro system would look like in the conurbation shares your dreams of a more direct route around Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole!

With Bournemouth ranking in third place for most congestion in the UK, and frequent calls from politicians for a monorail in the town, Benjamin Chadwick of Citymetric.com has come up with this interesting proposal.

With the cost of cars and fuel rising, climate change and global warming a growing concern, would an eco-friendly train system be the answer to the conurbation’s problems?

Boasting six lines and over 100 hundred stops, the conurbation would have a world-class metro system fit for the 500,000 people that live in our corner of Dorset.
