Steven Gerrard has given a big hint on the future of on-loan Bournemouth striker, Jermain Defoe, and it’s “good news” for Rangers fans.
Defoe, 37, has been on loan at the club since January 2019 as part of an 18-month deal and his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is hopeful he can keep the striker at the club.
During a press conference today, he said: “He’s so important to the team and the squad because of the way he behaves on and off the pitch.
“I think he’s absolutely fantastic for the likes of Joe (Aribo) and Glen Kamara, the younger lads in the group as someone to aspire to and look up to.
“I’m so happy that in a couple of days or a day or two we’ll get some good news on that.”
Defoe has played for Bournemouth across two spells, once on loan for the 2000/01 season and since 2017 – registering four goals in 34 games.
