Nigerian climate activist Olumide Idowu says it is up to each country to take action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The UN SDGs were set up six years ago as targets for the future. Some of the goals include reducing poverty and climate action.

Olumide said: “One of our biggest slogans is: Leave no one behind”. This refers to the notion that every country must do their bit in order for these goals to be achieved.

He said:

“Every country needs to take ownership of the Sustainability Development Goals and use these as a solution for their country.”

Olumide also called on all of us to do our bit to challenge our government’s to take action.

“You and I as citizens from our different countries. We are the ones that are responsible in changing the narrative.”
