Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council met last night to discuss funding for more accessible access to Pokesdown Railway.
The Council voted in favour to part-fund the refurbishment with 56 in favour, one against and one abstention.
Plans to refurb the station included the installation of a lift, footbridge and canopy to make the train station more accessible.
Next stages for the railway station will be for the Department of Transport to agree to the joint business case. Following this, a project plan will need to be agreed upon with the key stakeholders outlining the various work phases and timeline for the Pokesdown railway refurbishment.
