Bournemouth Council have allocated £2.6m to the Pokesdown for Boscombe train station.
Mike Greene the councillor for transport and sustainability said “We had campaigned as Bournemouth council very strongly to the Department of Transport, to say that when the new franchise took over then an obligation should be on them to provide those lifts.”
Mike also added “South Western Railway won the contract and where obliged to put the lifts in place, what then happened is we had a battle over a number of years where they said whoops they got the price wrong […] and then Covid came along and South Western Railway basically went bust so it was left for the Department for Transport to sort.”
