A 15-year-old girl was detained by Dorset Police in connection with the murder of Edward Reeve. The 35-year-old man was found dead at 6 Heath Road, Walkford.
The arrest follows two 16-year-old boys from Christchurch and Bournemouth, who remain in custody on suspicion of murder.
Detectives were able to secure special permission from the courts to extend the detention period of the two boys.
Dorset Police discovered the body of Mr Reeve’s on Tuesday, January 4th, after receiving reports concerned for the occupant’s wellbeing.
One nearby neighbour, who asked to remain anonymous, said:
“It’s such a safe road and a safe area, so it’s a real shock to the system.
“I didn’t know him personally, but he was a neighbour that I always walked past.
“I walk by the house all the time and it has been quite scary.”
Detective Inspector Simon Huxter, of the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) said: “We have continued with our investigation and have been able to find out further details.
“I am grateful for all the information we have received from the public so far.
“I am now appealing with regards to a wider time frame as previously given.
“Therefore, I urge residents and motorists in the area of Heath Road to please check any CCTV systems or dashcam footage from Wednesday, December 29, 2021, to Tuesday, January 4, 2022, and to report any suspicious activity, they may have witnessed during this time period.
Officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries and can be approached by members of the community with any information or concerns.”
