Instagram account documents the cats of Winton!

January 28, 2022 //  by Sophie Fenton-Hobbs//  Leave a Comment

Cats of Winton

Have you ever wanted a collection of cats right at your fingertips?

An Instagram account going by Cats of Winton welcomes picture submissions of local Bournemouth felines and shares them to its followers.

Wanting to remain anonymous, the owner runs the page from their Bournemouth home.

This isn’t without the help of admin, Danika, a student at Bournemouth Arts University.

The owner revealed that they created the page after a down period in their life in hopes it would bring them some joy.

Each post contains details of their names, location, personality and more.

The admins rate the photos out of 10 based on the submission they recieve.

Danika said she rates them on many things: “I rate them on how they interact with the camera, how soft they look, their features and how many different people submitted them.”

The pages creator expressed that despite rating system, all the cats are perfect: “A cat that’s 40/10 is no more perfect than a cat that is 10/10.”

Followers of the account can exchange stories of the cats if they know them, which happens a lot!

Danika expressed that she enjoys seeing the fur balls as much as the followers do: “I don’t really go out much in the area but the more cats that get submitted the more excited I get to look for them. It’s really nice seeing lots of people connect through cats!”

The creator revealed that the page receives around 5-8 submissions a week. “I’m so amazed by the response I’ve got. It’s really nice to know there is a whole community in Bournemouth that enjoy the page.”

The account accepts submissions through DM, so if you have kitty pics send them in!
