Health Secretary Sajid Javid plans to cut down the isolation period from seven to five days.
He has told MP’s that people have to ensure that they have tested negative on days five and six before they can be released from isolation.
According to UK Health Security Agencu (UKHSA) data showed that approximately 2/3rds of positive cases are no longer infectious after five days.
This isolation period being cut will begin from Monday, January 17th.
Before this positive cases were expected to isolate for six full days, and leave on the seventh day after a negative test.
More updates will follow soon.
