AFC Bournemouth chairman, Bill Foley and Black Knight Football has acquired a 33% stake in Ligue 1 club FC Lorient.

The Cherries released a statement to confirm the news just after nine o’clock this morning.

Welcome to the family, @FCLorient 🤝

Foley said on the AFC Bournemouth official website: “We are excited to announce a strategic partnership and investment in FC Lorient today.

Loïc Fery has successfully built a best-in-class football club and will be a great partner as we build BKFE into a leading multi-club football operator. I look forward to partnering with Loïc and his team to accelerate the success of FC Lorient and BKFE.”

The acquisition of FC Lorient is part of Foley’s strategy to build a multi-club model, which has been effective abroad and in England.

Foley will have the option to increase his ownership percentage of the French side over time.
