Flooding frustration in Ringwood as locals wait for recovery

January 16, 2023 //  by Hannah Knight

A series of substantial flooding across Dorset has forced locals to abandon their vehicles.

One incident on New Kent Lane in Ringwood, resulted in drivers having to abandon their vehicles and wait for recovery.

Tim Cornish was on his way to work in Verwood this morning when he got caught in the flooding chaos.

After being stranded for 45 minutes, Tim’s car was pulled onto dry land and he is now waiting for the recovery team.

During his wait, Tim spoke to some of the recovery drivers who were working to rescue the stranded vehicles.

“They said that in Bournemouth, Poole and Avon, the area is gridlocked because of the flooded roads.

Quite a few cars are beached, they’re waiting in recovery but there are no recovery trucks to collect them.”

Tim praised the local residents who made his wait more comfortable, by helping him out of the water and supplying him with warm drinks.

For the meantime, he says he will be waiting for the recovery team and then says he will unfortunately “be doing lots of paperwork.”

For flooding updates and alerts in your area, check the GOV.UK website.
