The Cherries Snatch an Important Point To Stay Alive

AFC Bournemouth leave Vitally Stadium with crucial a point against Carabao Cup finalist’s Newcastle.

Bournemouth are currently 19th in the Premier League and have been finding their return to the Premier League difficult.

Coming to the game as underdogs against an overachieving Newcastle side made them unlikely to gain anything according to the bookies.

However, Bournemouth netted in the first goal within half hour when Dango Outtara flicked on a corner and Marcos Sensi was left unmarked at the far post to stab home.

Eddie Howe’s side responded with a first half stoppage time goal by  Miguel Almiron firing it into the bottom corner making it 10 Premier League goals by the skipper.

New January signing Anthony Gordon missed a wonderful opportunity to put Newcastle in front in the 70thminute.

Although the visitors pressed for a winner late on, it was Bournemouth who came closest to snatching all three points when Dominic Solanke’s flick was cleared off the line by Kieran Tripper in the last minute.

Bournemouth manger, Gary O’Neil said: “Every point is important when you’re in a relegation scrap and taking one off a side competing at the top of the table might even be considered a bonus.”

O’Neil believed the longer the game went the more he thought his team had an upper edge on the Magpies.

“Disappointed not to take all three points, but the positive are we can compete and fight to the very end.”

With key players slowly coming back to the Cherries, Gary O’ Neil believes his side can now push on from this good performance and fight till the very end to stay in the Premier league.
