The student union at Bournemouth University hosted a volunteer fair where charities from across Dorset gathered together to network and seek out volunteers from the University.
Two former students gave a speech about their experiences volunteering, and the skills acquired during their time.
The purpose of this event is for charities to allow students to find charities that are flexible around their university lifestyle.
Dan Stannard is the head of training development HR for Citizens advice BCP.
The charity provides free advice and guidance for a variety of issues people face, with housing, debts and benefits being a common problem.
He said: ‘Students in particular are absolutely brilliant’, when talking about the type of volunteers his charity is looking for.
Dorset Stars is a charity for sexual trauma and recovery services who are also in need of volunteers.
Steph Lee, the engagement officer, said she was ‘really looking forward to today to having a few more people come through.’
