The Original Music Awards will be hosted today, Friday 19th at the Lighthouse in Poole.

The evening aims to celebrate original music creators in the Dorset area, and is held annually.

There are various categories such as ‘Best Breakthrough Act’ and ‘Best Small Band.’

Our reporter Alfie Walker spoke to last years winner of ‘Best Newcomer’, Millie Watson, who said: “This is one of the most amazing places that I’ve ever been for community.”

She will be performing at the event this year along with popular local band ‘Soulhole’.

The evening allows the Dorset music scene to all come together in one venue.

Millie Watson said: “It’s such an amazing buzzing community here and its probably the one chance that we all get in Dorset to be together as musicians in one room.”

Our reporters Adam Barlow and Alfie Walker will be reporting at the event tonight, stay tuned!
