Safe standing to be introduced at the Vitality Stadium

January 9, 2024 //  by Dan Palmer

AFC Bournemouth are set to introduce safe standing at the Vitality Stadium as soon as next month, in a move that has gone down very well with match-going Bournemouth fans.

The safe standing area will be in the north stand, and in the away end, with fans given the option to move out of these areas if they wish to do so.

A segment of the announcement article on the AFC Bournemouth website reads:

“The club has been in dialogue with the SGSA to introduce safe standing in order to maintain the full seating capacity at Vitality Stadium, whilst adhering to all safety rules. AFC Bournemouth are working closely with the SGSA and wider Safety Advisory Group (SAG) stakeholders to ensure a safe and successful launch in February.”

Bournemouth manager, Andoni Iraola, commented on the introduction of safe standing in a recent press conference. Speaking to BUzz news, he said:

“I think [having safe standing] is nice, normally it creates nice atmosphere and if we can do this it’s a very good option. People will welcome it and anything that helps create the atmosphere is a good option.”

Bournemouth will be hoping his helps to improve the match day atmosphere as they attempt to continue the strong recent form they have shown under the Spanish manager.
