Stolen pygmy goats returned thanks to police and community support

January 19, 2024 //  by Fran Williams

A woman from West Dorset is thanking police and local residents for their support in reuniting her with her beloved pet goats.

Alice Hill’s two pygmy goats were stolen from her property in the Marshwood area last Thursday evening.

Following an appeal on Facebook the lovable duo, Margoat and Robbie, were returned to their home by police on Saturday.

Alice described the incident as horrible, with the goats being extremely important to her and her family.

“We’ve had them since they were literally born, we’ve been with them everyday since. They’re like our dogs basically, so to have them taken was horrific.”

Alice shared her appreciation for the work of the police in bringing them home so quickly:

“They’ve been amazing, we cannot praise them highly enough. They worked so quickly to find them and bring them back.”

Alice explained how she ‘couldn’t be happier’ and was ‘over the moon’ to have the goats returned home.

Since the incident police have remained in touch with Alice, ensuring the animals and property are safe.

“A massive thank you to everyone who shared the post, the police especially, and our neighbours.”
