Weymouth vs Wimborne Town postponed

January 9, 2024 //  by Dan Palmer

Bob Lucas Stadium

Weymouth FC’s Dorset Senior Cup fixture against Wimborne Town has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

The Terras were due to play the Magpies tonight (9th Jan), but with weather conditions set to remain near freezing, the decision has been made to call the game off. Club officials doubt the pitch will thaw out in time.

Weymouth have said that a new date will be announced in due course.

It is the fourth time this fixture has been delayed, with both sides now forced to postpone twice each, for different reasons.

Weymouth manager, Bobby Wilkinson, has previously described the Dorset Senior Cup as a “burden” on the club. Wilkinson was likely to field a young side against Wimborne, to give some youth players game time.
