AFC Bournemouth Women’s vice captain Abby Jones is eagerly awaiting Sunday as the Cherries are set to host Keynsham Town at the Vitality Stadium.
Retelling the anticipation felt from the past four fixtures she has played at the Vitality, Jones said: “It’s a feeling you never get over.”
The AFC Bournemouth Women’s side are eager for a home victory, adding to their current seven-game unbeaten run, in front of a large home crowd.
In partnership with Bournemouth University, the “BU Big Match” hopes to break attendance figures from the last match at the Vitality, boasting a record-breaking crowd of 6,805 people.
Despite the excitement for the occasion, the Bournemouth team remains composed and focused as they look to secure the three points at the Vitality instead of their usual home ground in Ringwood.
Manager Steve Cuss said: “The only thing we do differently is make everyone arrive earlier.”
With the league nearing a close, the title race is in full swing as Bournemouth remain six points behind Exeter City with two games in hand.
Cuss said: “We’d be naturally disappointed if we don’t win the league.”
However, regarding training and dressing room team talks, Cuss said: “We don’t mention anything like winning trophies.”
To aid the Cherries title race, two late-season signings in the form of Ellie Butler and Kelci Bowers hope to provide the ever-important goals, especially as they make their home debuts at the Vitality on Sunday.
Having already sold 5,500 tickets, they will remain on sale until kick-off at 2pm.
